Pastor Stephen D. Brown

Pastor Brown is a native of Conway, South Carolina where he attended public school and grew up with his two brothers – Bobby Cornelius and Jeremy. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Bobby (Linda) Brown. He is a 1988 graduate of Conway High School. As far back as the ninth grade his superb oratorical ability was recognized by his teachers. His superior ability to explain difficult and challenging information in a manner that anyone could comprehend it was especially noticed by a science teacher when he was required to make an oral presentation for a science project. After that another teacher asked him to enter an oratorical contest sponsored by the local 4-H Club and he agreed. He won every contest, even at the national level.

In 1988 upon graduating from high school Pastor Brown moved on to attend South Carolina State College (University, now). He later left college to serve in the United States Army for four years. After his military time was over and he was honorably discharged from his duty as support staff for the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, he entered ministry and returned to college in 1998. As he matriculated through college God opened up many opportunities for Pastor Brown to share His glorious gospel with mankind.

In 1999, he began leading a small bible study group in various locations throughout Horry County, South Carolina along with his wife and a close friend in ministry, Bro. Kelvin Galloway. In 2001, he graduated from Allen University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities/Religion.  Also in 2001, he was ordained a minister by the Kingston Lake Baptist Association.

In 2002, he became the pastor of Flag Patch Missionary Baptist Church and he also pioneered the Living Word Christian Center a small fellowship of Christian believers in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  In 2004, he became the Pastor of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church and most of the members of Living Word followed him there to help carry out God’s vision for that house. His mission at Mt. Carmel has recently come to an end, and Pastor Brown along with quite a few faithful believers have endeavored to launch a church plant, Living Word Full Gospel Baptist Church, on April 24, 2011 (Resurrection Sunday ’11).

Pastor Brown is also an entrepreneur as the owner of the Freshwater Fish Company...a fresh seafood market and diner located in Conway, South Carolina.

Pastor Brown is married to his college sweetheart and soul mate, the former Aprelle Floyd of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They have two wonderful and very active children: Jonathan DeWayne, 18 and Jonica Aprelle, 14. First Lady Brown is a former public school teacher. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Coastal Carolina University; Conway, SC and a Master of Education degree in Education Technology and Literature from Lesley University; Cambridge, MA. Jonathan will begin his post-secondary educational journey at Coastal Carolina University this fall. Jonica is about to embark on the final leg of her public school career at Conway High School this fall.
